Canyoning with Kids - Sheepdip

I have wanted to post this video for a while because I love how it really shows you how fun canyons can be. And there is no canyon more fun than Sheepdip (called Twister Canyon in the video, there is some history there which I don’t fully understand yet…I’ll have to ask David Noble about that.)

Anyway, this video comes from Craig and Mandy’s Canyon Page and is just a lot of fun. I know as soon as I have kids and they reach the right age, I will be doing all sorts of stuff like this with them too.

Hey cool that’s my video that Aegist has posted. The Kids loved it. but I would take them when the water level is high.

It’s Actually Twister canyon. It’s mistakenly called Sheep Dip by the Guide Book and most Guide companies.

The history of the confusion is that Dave W Noble was in a group that first explored Rocky Creek for canyons. They came across the upper canyon and nick-named it Sheep Dip because of the jumps and slides and deep pools. Down Stream they came across the lower canyon, Rocky Creek canyon. Big clue there as to where sheep dip is…

The other Dave Noble (NP Dave) later lead another group down the side creek and found Twister, but as it resembled the description he had heard of Sheep Dip it was mistakenly thought to be the same canyon. This confusion persisted for some time and it made it’s way into the guide book. Both have tried to get the guide book corrected since the first edition.
