Hi all,
was wondering if anyone had been on any short bike rides near melb that they would recommend? preferably accessible by public transport? i'm not really interested in mountain biking just want to know about some nice touring rides.

any help with where to look would be great too.

thanks!

Hi,

Being from melbourne you can go past riding around the city along the yarra river bank.  That starts or a good place to start would be Southbank and ride east.  Or your could start at Docklands and ride back down to the city and yarra river.  Another good ride would be St. kilda Beach road. that's somewhat easy to get to, catching a train to the city then a tram to St. Kilda.  If you are looking for more outer city the Warburton Trail goes through the dandenongs and yarra valley vineyard region.  It follows an old train line so it's not too steep (so I've been told) and has many stops for picnics and bbqs.  I'm sure if you head to the victorian government website they would probably have links to bike tracks.  I'm not really into bike riding although have been thinking about it.

hope I've helped.
