Had a go at kayaking for the first time ever whilst in New Zealand a few months ago. Launched the kayaks into the Clutha River at Albert-town near Wanaka and paddled down to Luggate, a distance of about 18kms. My paddling companions were from Belgium I think and although we didn't have much conversation, we had a great time. Here are photos http://imageevent.com/jburton/watersports/kayaking

Cool. I can't see the pictures (because of the poor internet quality here), but kayaking in NZ is something i definitely want to do! Smiley

I can recommend Alpine Kayaks, a small family business run by Ben. Afterwards, he and his wife make coffee and offer home made biscuits.
