It's supposed to snow in the Bluies on Wednesday, so who wants to come and do Empress with me?

Any hardy takers?

Yep. I want in on it. Only if it is actually snowing though (or at least snow on the ground.) I'm really really pressed for time now (leaving for reunion island and Madagascar for 2.5 months on next tuesday), but I can't pass up the opportunity to do a snow canyon Smiley

Although the snow is forecast, I can't guarantee that it will snow while we are there!

Of course not, but if it hasn't snowed by morning, then it probably won't during the day. So I am dead keen, as long as it is snowing Smiley We'll have to be in phone contact on the morning...

You can get my number on facebook if you don't already have it. Send me a message so I can get your number too...

Sorry you couldn't make it after all Shane, but I wasn't too sorry to get home from work this morning and climb into my bed with my electric blanket!

There's a group of mental canyoners in the US who take part each year in a Freeze-Fest. They wear heaps of neoprene and slip and slide and swim their way through snowy canyons that have plates of ice on the water, then drink lots of celebratory beverages around a roaring campfire (and then jump back into cold, wet neoprene the next day). It would be kinda nice if we Aussies could find a few canyoners crazy enough to kick off our own version of the Freeze-Fest.

The snow and ice may not feature prominently in our version, but maybe we could do a weekend of say Empress, Yileen and Fortress for example.

Thoughts anyone?

I would definitely support it. I can't do much this freeze season (what with going to Madagascar and all), but when I get back from Madagascar with the new site finally coming up... (eventually), next year I should be able to promote it and draw attention to the event Smiley

How was the snow at Katoomba anyway? Would we have even noticed it? (not temperature wise, but I mean, would we have seen any whilst in the canyon..)
